Who knew my mind could be this silent and my body this still and calm? Who knew good days could be a regular occurrence and not a once-in-a-blue-moon phenomenon?
I've been taking Neucon (Concerta, essentially) for over a year now and for the most part, I have no idea how I managed life before. Last week my lovely psychiatrist upped the dose because my anxiety levels were all the way up. The new dose works well, but I need to purchase two different bottles of Neucon to achieve the required dose because they don't make a 72mg tablet... As helpful as the meds are, these bad boys are not cheap.
Oh, and get this:
Imagine a world where medical aid/health insurance providers in South Africa actually recognised ADHD and GAD as medical conditions worthy of real support and resources... Imagine if funding was put into researching the connection between hormones and ADHD/ADD in women and girls and developing treatments that worked all the time... wouldn't that be great? I think it would be wonderful. And my freelance English teacher PAYE salary completely agrees.
